Living in York
York is frequently ranked as one of the best places to live in the UK. It is a beautiful cathedral city with a strong Roman and Viking history. It is an ancient city full of character with many pubs, museums, restaurants, and excellent state and independent schools. York is centrally located and well connected to the rest of the UK, with London less than a 2 hours away by train. It is surrounded by the North Yorkshire countryside with the picturesque moors and coastline easy to access by public transport. Accommodation costs are typically lower than in many other major cities and the University is within cycling and walking distance of the city centre.
